According to the report, underwear theft has risen around 20% recently- and celebrities are being blamed! With celebrities constantly posing in designer underwear and launching their own luxury brands, thieves want to get a piece of the action- and they’re not prepared to pay for the pieces themselves.

A source explained: “We are bombarded with images of celebrities in luxurious undergarments. It’s no surprise they’re coveted.”

A survey was carried out to get to the bottom of underwear theft, and a very large proportion of the ex-cons who were questioned admitted that the first place they targeted was the washing line.

Selina Hurley, assistant curator at the Science Museum, explained: “We think of body enhancement as a modern invention.
